I know exactly what you are saying with the blogging stuff! I write less and less as my kids get older for the exact same reasons! I am inspired by your refocusing on yourself. I need to do the same thing. I still read but hardly comment (sorry)---but I AM still here! I am so excited for your 5k! I speak from experience when I say completing one is 80% mental. It took me a VERY long time to realize that! Finishing my first was amazing. Even though I walked most of it. Just being there, and having people cheer as I crossed the finish line felt amazing! And I still love that feeling :)

Yay! Your goal to run a 5k is huge! Not in a "you can't do it" way, but in a "this could be the thing that gets you going!" way. :) I completely understand your point about the circles and cycles. I fall into that easily as well and it's so hard to break out of it. Do this for you. You are worth it!

It looks like you guys had an awesome year!!! I particularly loved Noah's many hairstyles along with the fact that Zoe looked just as excited swimming with a dolphin as she did shopping for produce or riding a carousel or ice skating or any other activity :) I hope this year is just as amazing!

What an interesting post. It reminds me a little of what I hear from parents of special needs kids, about how they have to radically adjust their expectations of what they thought parenting would be and learn to meet their kids where they are in order to get anywhere. I suppose we all need to do that and just don't realize it.

What a crazy world we live in. Because my girls are in 2nd and 3rd grade I chose to tell them a very bare bones version of what happened. I wanted them to hear it from me just in case they did talk about it at school. I'm thankful to report they didn't talk about at school.

My girls love school too. Hearing that same thing about Zoe and Noah reminds how much the young victims probably felt about school. Their teachers obviously loved them too. How sad that a fun, secure place has now become a place of fear.

I'm mostly rambling but I was very touched by your blog. Praying for peace.
